[Background] Vocumundi

It turned out well. I might have gone too far in a few places (or had plainly no clue what I was doing), but it turned out well... and I finished it in under two weeks.

I painted this for carnivorousGekkou, so her Star-Wars-OC does no longer has to sit on a basic blocky background. I think she was originaly going with a dessert theme, but I went with something different.

I am very curious on how you will make your character fit :)

On its discovery, Vocumundi was considered a curious case, even in this large galaxy. It is a vulcanic world, completely covered in oceans. In some places, islands rise from the ocean and sink again at the rate of hours.

Colonization was still considered to be worth the effort, for Vocumundis very active volcanos brought lots of valuable minerals from the depths of the planet. Floating Mining-Platforms, later sprawling into a handful of megalopolises, were quickly established. Artificial volcanos 'pump' magma to the surface, where it cools down, and the precious elements get extracted.

As with all places whose entire economy is build on only one basic trade, this society of miners, engineers and traders soon deteriorated into corruption and organized crime.

These days, more and more ore leaves the planet by shady means, and less trough official trade routes. And everyone who wants to have a save and somewhat comfortable life, has to partake in these schemes to some degree.
